Chapter 1: Prologue - Legend of Majora
Ikana Valley of Termina, the ancient home of the shapeshifters. Eons ago there was a powerful shapeshifter sorceress called Majora. During that era, Termina was ruled by a powerful demon called the Shadow Master. Majora, who was doubted by all, used her powers to banish this demon to the space between dimensions. After the banishment of this demon the townsfolk of Clock Town flocked to Ikana to praise Majora. Soon enough the humans started living in the shapeshifter kingdom.
The king was furious about the sudden, dramatic population increase. He asked Majora to use her powers to get rid of the humans. She refused to do such a thing. The king used forbidden powers to split Majora into two different versions of herself. One that was childish and impulsive. The other one was mature and wise. The childish Majora was tempted and used by the king, she utilised her powers to make the shapeshifter guardian Twinmould obey her.
She commanded Twinmould to get rid of the humans. The legendary beast started destroying the kingdom and humans. The king was pleased with the humans fleeing until he realised Twinmould was destroying the kingdom and the shapeshifters. The childish Majora was toying with innocent lives, life and death meant nothing to her. All she desired was games and enjoyment.
He ordered the childish Majora to stop Twinmould. She didn’t follow his command. The king ordered two of his finest guards to kill her but she turned them into undead skeletons. She then unleashed a powerful curse, transforming the king and all the people in the castle into zombies, ghosts and evil, twisted creatures.
The mature Majora came forth with her ocarina and an ancient mask from the holy Stone Towers. She played an eerie melody that she had composed herself with her ocarina. Suddenly the childish Majora was sealed into the mask.
The mature Majora then banished Twinmould and all of the evil caused by the childish Majora into the Stone Towers and ruins of Ikana Valley. She sealed the Stone Towers and the mask in darkness. The eastern side of Termina became a barren wasteland of the dead.
Majora saw that no one else was alive. The entire race was wiped out. She bravely entered the sealed Stone Towers where she awaits her descendent. It is told she will awaken once more to cleanse the world of darkness.
Legend has said that the Shapeshifters can be revived to their original standard. Only if Twinmould and the childish Majora are truly destroyed, then they are free of the curse that clings to their very souls.
Far away in another world an ancient elder looked over a wall covered with events of the past and future carved upon it. The wall showed every event possible for any world.
He said to himself “The evil is coming, so we must prepare for it”
Three figures entered the chamber of the elder. The elder stopped looking at the wall of carvings and turned to the three figures.
“You wanted us?” questioned one of the figures, it was a girl, taller than her comrades
“Yes, I have a task for you, my finest pupils, to complete” replied the elder
“What is it?”
“I want you to get Princess Zelda of Hyrule and bring her here. You are allowed to use force if necessary. You must get the Princess!”
“What is Hyrule?”
“Hyrule is a far away land that is in a completely different dimension to us. It is a land that has the golden power, the Triforce within it”
The shortest of the trio commented “The Triforce I’ve heard of such an item. Are they the three golden triangles from legend?”
“Yes and now that evil is rising to power. He will come and we must prepare for his arrival. You must get Princess Zelda out of Hyrule and back here”
“Huh? Why? What’s so special about this princess?” said the only boy of the trio
“She holds the power to open the sacred realm”
“But I thought you just needed the sacred stones and the Ocarina of Time to open the sacred realm”
“In the future she will become the seventh sage and bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom”
“Wow! That’s impressive”
“Now go, get her!”
“We’ll go forth and get the princess!” exclaimed one of the figures
“Take these three masks. May they serve you well” said the elder as he handed each figure a specific mask.
The figures vanished from the chamber in a magical flash.
