Where's the Great Deku Tree?

Mido was bored. He had nothing to do, and it had been the same for the past few weeks. All he'd been doing was felling guilty for accusing Link of killing off the first Deku Tree.

"That's it! We'll all go see the new Deku Tree!" shouted Mido, happily. He rushed behind his house and climbed up the dirt slope towards the Lost Woods. Then he shouted down to the rest of the town.

"Everybody! Let's go see the Great Deku Tree!" bellowed Mido.

There were murmers of approval as everyone left their houses and climbed up to Mido. Mido walked over to Saria.

"We'll need you to guide us to him."

"For the Great Deku Tree." replied Saria, coldly.

Before long, Saria had guided the Kokiri to the Great Deku Tree. Or what had been the Great Deku Tree. All that was left was a damp hole and a single root. All the Kokiri stared in amazement and horror. Only one thing was in all of their minds: What could have done this?

"I'd better contact Link." said Saria, whipping out her ocarina.

"WOULD YOU BE QUIET ABOUT LINK FOR ONCE?!?" screamed Mido

"He's a better Kokiri than you'll ever be."

"OK, then! Contact him! Express your love for him for I care."

There was a period of silence. Mido turned away from Saria and picked up the Deku Root. He sniffed it and put it in his pocket. Maybe talking to Link wasn't such a bad idea?
