LoZ2_Life.jpg
LoZ2_Life.jpgZelda 2 AoL Life Spell468 viewsLink patching up his wounds with the Life Spell in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Sprites, screenshots, and official art were references. See "Zelda 2 AoL Shield Spell" for why the name of the spell is not in the artwork itself.

LoZ2FotailByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2FotailByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Fotail466 viewsFotail, the more dangerous of the two "birdbrains" in the Great Palace, the final place to go to in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

I used the ingame sprite as the reference here. The official art (that I found in Zelda Wiki) has him looking like an alien bug. Anyway, here's Fotail.

LoZ2SorcererByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2SorcererByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Sorcerer464 viewsMago, the fire flinging sorcerer in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

This is him in the Palace on the Sea, where you'll see him a lot. He's in other palaces, sure, but this seems to be Mago's home base.

I used a sprite, and an official art I found on ZeldaWiki, as references.

LoZ2--Myu.jpgZelda 2 AoL Myu461 viewsThe spiny slime from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. Watch your step.

I used an official art as a reference.

LoZ2_Jump.jpg
LoZ2_Jump.jpgZelda 2 AoL Jump Spell460 viewsLink leaping onto the roof of a house, using his Jump Spell in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link (he's probably seeking one of the knights to teach him one of the two special thrusts).

Screenshots, sprites, and official art were used as reference. See "Zelda 2 AoL Shield Spell" for why the name of the spell is not in the artwork itself.

The_Triforce.jpg
The_Triforce.jpgThe Triforce460 viewsYou can't talk about Zelda without talking about the great golden triangles, the Triforce.

I found a reference a long time ago (this is an OLD pic I drew), but I forgot which reference that was.

LoZ2--Moa_and_friend.jpg
LoZ2--Moa_and_friend.jpgZelda 2 AoL Moa and Girobokku459 viewsThe two ghastly eyes from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link

For Moa, I used an official art as a reference. For Girobokku (exact English name unknown; I'll have to visit the Zelda wiki to know), I used a sprite as a reference.

Anyway, here they are, haunting a graveyard (I know Girobokku appears in the "Valley of Death" near the final palace, but still...). For Moa, have the cross ready--some of them are invisible otherwise!

LoZ2_Cross.jpg
LoZ2_Cross.jpgZelda 2 AoL Cross459 viewsThe magical cross in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, lying in Three Eye Rock Palace.

Obtaining this makes the final areas MUCH easier, as it makes those invisible Moas visible!

Anyway, I used the manual scan for reference of the cross, and VGMaps.com (with some artistic licence) for the palace backdrop.

LoZ2--Basilisk_Zora.jpg
LoZ2--Basilisk_Zora.jpgZelda 2 AoL Basilisk (Zora?)458 viewsThe basilisk monster in Zelda 2, Adventure of Link. But it could very well be Zora, hence the name choice.

Anyway, I used a sprite as a reference.

LoZ2DoomraddleByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2DoomraddleByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Doomraddle458 viewsDoomraddle, aka Guma, in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

I'm calling him Doomraddle so he won't be confused with the fifth boss, Gooma (whom Japanese fans named "Giant"/Jaianto), but anyway, here he is dancing about in Midoro Palace.

Is it just me, or does Doomraddle look like an effed up Taz? Anyway, I used a sprite as a reference.

LoZ2--Geldarm.jpg
LoZ2--Geldarm.jpgZelda 2 AoL Geldarm457 viewsThe giant desert centipede frol Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Geldarm.

I used the sprite as a reference. Oh, and between Geldarm and Lowder, I wanted to do an AoL version of Goriya, but forgot--didn't realize it till it was too late. D'oh! Ah, well, you can see Goriya in my Zelda 1 art. Not too much of Goriya changed between the two games.

LoZ2--Boon.jpg
LoZ2--Boon.jpgZelda 2 AoL Boon454 viewsThe big fly from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Make this big bug buzz off, if you can!

I used both a sprite and an official artwork as references.

LoZ2MauAndRaByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2MauAndRaByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Dog and Dragon Heads454 viewsMau (the Dog Head) and Ra (the Dragon Head) in the Maze Palace in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

I learned their names in the Zelda Wiki.

Anyway, the sprites and official art were the references here.

LoZ2_Reflect.jpg
LoZ2_Reflect.jpgZelda 2 AoL Reflect Spell452 viewsLink using the Reflect Spell in the Maze Palace (where it is DEFINITELY required) in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Sprites, official art, and screen shots used as references. See "Zelda 2 AoL Shield Spell" for the reason why the name of the spell is not in the artwork itself.

LoZ2_Swamp.jpg
LoZ2_Swamp.jpgZelda 2 AoL Swamp452 viewsThe swamp from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. Used a screenshot of a manual scan as a reference.DBoyWheeler
LoZ2--Stalfos.jpg
LoZ2--Stalfos.jpgZelda 2 AoL Stalfos450 viewsThe Zelda 2: Adventure of Link version of Stalfos. Showing once again how I suck at drawing skeletons.

This one's in Parapa Palace (I used VGMaps as a reference here).

Both a sprite and the official art were reference for Stalfos.

LoZ2--Tinsuit.jpg
LoZ2--Tinsuit.jpgZelda 2 AoL Tinsuit449 viewsYep! That one hopping enemy in Parapa Palace (in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link)... the one that looks like a dog enemy in armor... it has a name in North America. It's called Tinsuit. So whoever takes care of the bestiary on this site, please note. (In the Bestiary, we only know its Japanese name--WOSU).

Anyway, I used a sprite as a reference for the character. For the Parapa Palace BG, I used VGMaps.com as a reference.

LoZ2TektiteByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2TektiteByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Tektite448 viewsThe eyeball spider Tektite returns in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. And it's gotten more resilient (not to mention learned a few new tricks).

I had to use a sprite as a reference, so it doesn't look as good as it could've been.

LoZ2SkettlarByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2SkettlarByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Skettlar447 viewsAruroda, also called by his fan-name "Skettlar" from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Beware of the fire-slinging tail... it's a "tale" best left untold! (Ha ha, I tell bad joke)

I used a sprite (and the official art from ZeldaWiki) as reference.

LoZ2_Flute.jpg
LoZ2_Flute.jpgZelda 2 AoL Flute445 viewsThe magical flute in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, lying in the Palace on the Sea.

Link'll need this to pass the River Devil and find Three-Eye-Rock Palace.

I used a little license for the flute, since the manual scan flute looks almost more like an oboe. For the palace backdrop, I used VGMaps.com, plus some artistic license there too.

LoZ2--Bago-Bago.jpg
LoZ2--Bago-Bago.jpgZelda 2 AoL Bago-Bago442 viewsThe bone fish undead from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link.

Perhaps its last moment in life was Zora's lunch?

I used an official art as a reference.
DBoyWheeler
LoZ2LeeverByDBoy.jpg
LoZ2LeeverByDBoy.jpgZelda 2 AoL Leever441 viewsThe version of Leever in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. Only the blue versions appear. I guess the red ones learned their lesson and decided not to bother Link on this quest.

Anyway, I used the in-game sprite as the reference.
DBoyWheeler
LoZ2--Lowder.jpg
LoZ2--Lowder.jpgZelda 2 AoL Lowder436 viewsThe big bug in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. Well, one of several big bugs, anyway.

I more or less used the sprite as a reference.

LoZ2_Graveyard.jpg
LoZ2_Graveyard.jpgZelda 2 AoL Graveyard420 viewsOooooh! The graveyard from Zelda 2: Adventure of Link. I used a screenshot from a manual scan as a reference. Have the cross ready so the Moa don't get ya off guard!DBoyWheeler
