zora.jpgPoor Tatl...2650 viewsI once drew this after having been pestered by Tatl one too many times. It's a fairly old pic, and rather in need of some touching up.22 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:59snailpo0: VERY funny
weeblminish.swf
weeblminish.swfMinish Links meets Weebl1768 viewsSoundless

Flash 6

I started to upload the old jpeg version of this little loop when it occured to me that i could make the same picture, at higher resolution, and moving, if i did the job in flash. Hence, I took the old motionless picture and rerendered it in flash, which cut it's size down to 17 KB, contrary to it's previous 160+ KB. That's the power of flash.

The loop is pretty self-explainitory, for those who know about Weebl and Bob. For those unfortuneate souls who do not, go to http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/pie.htm i think, that may be an incorrect URL.

weebl minish.jpgMinish Link meets Weebl2679 viewsSeeing the distinct lack of Minish Cap art, I once decided to slap this together. I decided to use my favorite flash characters, Weebl and Bob, as particpant, for no reason whatsoever but a blatant plug for the duo.20 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:56snailpo0: LOL !
triforce1.jpg
triforce1.jpgTrifoce Q21104 viewsIn my Zelda game, I use the Triforce as a switch sprite: ie, you find the triforce and the level ends --> find trifoce and door opens. It's one of the simplest models i've ever done, certainly the simplest I've done in q2modeller, the program i now use to model for my game.6 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:55snailpo0: sweet
stalfos_bridge.jpg
stalfos_bridge.jpgStalfos' Bridge1176 viewsThis is also from my Tut, this particular area demonstrating jumppads with a little "encouragement" from two Stalfos. the only excuse I could come up with for having a jumppad was to have a chasm you must cross, but the brige was broken (see the middle of the pic, over the blask chasm).

i'm afraid that the Stalfos is barely in the pic, but they weren't my goal, so it's OK. I was hoping to get a bit more of them though.

split_wallpaper.jpg
split_wallpaper.jpgSplit Natures (wallpaper)1741 viewsThis is a relatively straightforward edit to existing artwork that you can find on Nintendo Power magazines (or so i'm told. i dunno, i got it from zeldalegends). the tricky bit was trying to change the pic's proportions without distorting the subjects. i tried at some length to displace the bottom and top to the sides, but once i did so i realized that it didn't work out as a background.

so i scrapped it and went for the rule-of-thirds appoach you see here, twisting the existing side material backwards so as to give the user some space to put their desktop icons. i also tried to apply the sexy new logo, but i really didn't work colorwise. so i just stuck the name over to the right, mirroring the now-classic Unreal Tournament backgrounds.

So the root subject is not mine, i don't take credit for it, but getting it to work as a background was my effort.

slingshot.gif
slingshot.gifQ2 Slingshot Wireframe1091 viewsYet another screenshot from q2modeller, This one shows off my newest weapon, the slingshot. It's been a singulary difficult design, because of the reloading frames not working right, and also my pathetic hand-making skills.

All told though, I'm rather proud of it- it's been quite a job and i've gotten decent results. 59 frames of loaded and firing slingshot.

redead_dungeon.jpg
redead_dungeon.jpgRedead's Dungeon1164 viewsThis wing of the Tut is quite dark, and houses a fe Redeas and other such creatures. Hence the left side of the pic is altogether too dark to be much good, but that's the way things are. I'm looking up here, so we're getting the rising view of the ReDead, and the chains I have hung from the ceiling as eye candy. if you look to the right you can see an alcove in the wall which is revealed only at the end of the level.4 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:52snailpo0: too dark

quiver.jpg
quiver.jpgMD2 Quiver1035 views(sorry about the heigth of this pic)

This is a modded screenshot of the new ammunition model for the bow. It's pretty low-poly because ammo tends to be prevalent across levels, which means that it will be appearing a lot. hence, to keep it from swamping low end machines, I've been force to make it extremely simple. Some stats:

Number of Vertices: 35
Number of Skin Vertices: 35
Number of Faces: 56
Number of Frames: 1
Average Size of Triangles: 180

Build Time: 30 minutes, plus a few skin revisons

QuadMask1.jpg
QuadMask1.jpgQ2 Majora's Mask1215 viewsThis is yet another 3D model I made for my Zelda game, using Q2Modeller. I'm using Q2 because it's the only 3D format my game engine will run, which is handy because Q2 is open source. Unforetuneatly it means i have to skin it seperately.

Anyhoo, the idea is to place the Mask frugally in high combat areas. Once the mask is grabbed it will give 4x the offensive strength to the bearer for a limited amount of time.

Pound It.jpg
Pound It.jpgPound it!2193 viewsThis old joke turned out to be a lot harder to photshop than expected. Darunia always has his left arm down, no matter what pic you see, so i had to adjust the scaling a good bit and retexture a lot. This was also made when my scanner was on the blitz, which is why some things are so grainy.14 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:50snailpo0:

owl screenshot.jpgOwl Statue1328 viewsSo this is a screenshot form inside LoZ-Cube of the Owl statue i've recently made, based off of the MM owl statue, but in this case being used as one of the owls from LA. hence the ironic comment (hinting at just how deranged Link really is)7 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:50snailpo0: is is supposed to be 2(1/2)D

oldman1.jpg
oldman1.jpgMD2 Old Man1053 viewsRemember the somewhat random old men scattered throughout Zelda 1? And have continued to appear everywhere since? This is his newest rendition. it's a very simple model that will stand on a text trigger, creating the illusion of an NPC (Non Player Character).4 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:48snailpo0: cool!
Noseplug.jpg
Noseplug.jpgThe Noseplug Incident1908 viewsThis is a very old joke, one of my earliest pics. The idea was that Link, having been recently beaten up, has accidentally used Navi as a noseplug, because he's too bloodied to tell the difference.11 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:47snailpo0: eew............

Flash 6

This odd, rapidly produced animation was made to the specifications of a friend... what the heck he wanted it for I have no clue, but he sent me some text and some instructions and I did it.

Relatively simple animation, uses background music I edited out myself, pictures gotten from the multimedia gallery next door, right here in zeldalegends. That's about all I have to say.

linkjuggle.jpg
linkjuggle.jpgHey Sheik!1996 viewsThis little idea was born when I had the image of link showing off to Sheik. Bear in mind that I'm a sheik=girl follower, but even if sheik was a fellow guy, this would make sense. Teenagers love to show off, even when the risks are unthinkable. It's supposed to be set in Death Mtn. Crater, sorry the semblance is so bad.13 commentsKoroks Rock06/13/05 at 00:43snailpo0: Link's gonna kill himself...

korokent.jpgMakar/treebeard Hybrid Idea2430 viewsAs you will come to know, I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I drew this pic after having reread the Two Towers just before it released, using Treebeards line: "My business is with Sarumon with the rock and stone."

Makar and the other Koroks could easily be transformed into ents, should nintendo wish it, but here I tried to find a middle ground. Smooth like the Koroks but towering like the ents etc.

inevit1.jpgInevitability DeMotivator2130 viewsI don't know how many of you know about DeMotivators ( www.despair.com ), but they're a fun bunch of posters which i happen to be a big fan of. After viewing some of the new Z'05 screens, the idea came to me to mix some of my reactions to the pics with the basic concepts of the DeMotivators. Here we see Link facing the Inevitable.

It happens to be 800x600, so it can be used for a background or small printout. Made in photoshop, during my Independant Study of graphic design, very quickly and easily.

icon-screen copy.jpgLoZ-Cube Logo (in production)1273 viewsSo here's a screenshot of me working on the new icon/logo/thing for LoZ-Cube, my game (which will be made available to the public this weekend!)

This goes to show that there are all sorts of alternatives to the dreaded MS Paint, if you'll just go googling. This is doubly productive to boot.
